1976, Ted's Home Station
Ted's Home Station
Saturdays were not a day of rest for Ted Ryan, WB6JXY (sk). He had his day job teaching electric shop and amateur radio at John Burroughs Jr. High School in Los Angeles, California, USA. He came to school early and left late. Before and after school he would hold code practice sessions. On Thursdays after school we had our amateur radio club meetings. Ted was our club advisor and trustee of our station license, W6TDM. Two nights a week he volunteered to teach amateur radio licensing classes, Novice and General, later Technician and General, for the San Fernando Valley Amateur Radio Club, W6SD. On Saturdays, Ted taught everyone else who could not come study with him other times. We also were welcome to come on Saturdays for tutoring.
